What's the Rub?

Imagine...

The Basics

BC Bud Rub is a salve made from all natural ingredients designed to provide relief for a number of problems. The Rub's base is hemp seed oil, but there is more to it. The Rub contains almond oil, several essential oils, and beeswax. All the ingredients are organically grown and no toxic solvents are used in the extraction of any components. Rub it on aching joints or sore muscles and feel the relief. Its effects can be felt in minutes.

Hemp Essential Oil?  What's that?

Hemp essential oil is essential oils steam distilled off the plants right after harvest while the plants are still in the field.  In fact, the law requires the job be done right there in the field.  That's alright, it creates a better product.  Hemp essential oil (HEO) contains, like other essential oils, a mix of monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes.  These are compounds that make up the fragrance in many common items, such as lavender, lemon, rosemary, and many others.  Most of these have medicinal properties attributed to them and HEO is no exception.  The primary reason it is included in BC Bud Rub is that it is reputed to have anti-inflammatory properties, especially with respect to the skin.  One of the reasons people have used this product is its ability to heal skin irritations and various forms of dermatitis.  HEO is a valuable part of BC Bud Rub.

     A little history...

     BC Bud Rub began life as a remedy for cold sores. It still does that. Cannibinoids, which are present in hemp seed oil inhibit the reproduction of the Herpes virus and provide both anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, which is why it is such a great way to treat cold sores. Of course, there are different varieties of Herpes, and BC Bud Rub has had success in helping with the symptoms there too. The terrible itch and irritation associated with shingles was relieved by the Rub. Shingles is caused by Herpes Zoster Virus.

     The Rub has also helped some people with burns.  This was discovered accidentally when there was nothing else available to put on a burn.  The pain was gone very quickly and the usual after-burn hypersensitivity did not appear.  But this was not a new idea, using hemp oil to treat burns goes back many centuries.

Other 17th century texts refer to using the herb in such a manner.  Of course, using cannabis as medicine dates back much further that this in other parts of the world such as India and China where the oldest systems of medicine originated.
